A2 Music Video: Editing Part 2

Today we contiued with the editing we started yesterday. Today was all about putting the clips in order because we had a good look at all the clips yesterday so we knew what order to place the clips in. We did some editing together first of all putting clips into order and cutting some clips down, getting rid of the footage we can not use. Then after that I needed to go and speak to my tutor for about 20 minutes, during this Lysette did a lot of the editing. We added in the song yesterday as well so we made sure the miming was in time with the song. After I came back Lysette had to go and do the same thing so I did about 20 minutes of editing as well. When I came back, Lysette told me that it went a bit wrong and some of the timing was a bit off. So what I did when I was editing on my own was; I completed scrapped the editing we had already done and started fresh. So we have different clips in parts of the song that are done. One of the main reasons for this is because we need to film a lot more, which we are doing on Monday. We are next going to edit next Thursday. This is when we hopefully have all of our filming done; involving the miming parts and the boyfriend clips. The next time we edit we will be finishing it off by adding in different transitions and effects and credits as well. We will have a good 2 hours to do this but if we are not able to finish we will ask to use the Laptop throughout the day on Friday so we can get the editing done.

A2 Music Video: Editing Part 1

Today we started the editing of the footage we have already shot of our music video. We didn't do a lot of editing during this lesson because it did take a long time for the footage to import from the camera to the laptop. When it finally did import we were just looking over the clips that we already have and we have got a lot of footage that we can use. Along with this we have got a lot of footage that we can not use like the clips when I am laughing and forget the words. We also noticed in a few of the shots; not many that the tripod was in the way. When we were filming we forgot to move it out of the way. We didn't even notice it was there untill we started this editing. Next time we film, we will make sure that we hide the tripod if we do not use it. We tried to put the clips in to order but we have a lot of three minute clips so we need to cut them down when we next edit. We couldn't do it this lesson because we didn't have enough time. We are editing again tomorrow so hopefully we get more done tomorrow.

A2 Music Video: First day of filming

We decided that today would be the day that we would film for our music video. This is because the weather was very gloomy and there a lot of fog today so this would give the atmosphere more an effect. When we first started filming we used the tripod and it was me singing to the camera in front of a lot of trees and the fog. Then we became a bit more creative and more confident. Lysette took the camera of the tripod and started using different shots like; high angle shots, low angle shots, birds eye view shots, close-ups, over the shoulder shots and head shots. We used a variety of these shots when we were filming. We also used a panning shot where we filming me singing; where Lysette walked in a circle filming me. We filmed a lot of footage today so we know we have got a lot of film we can use. We were out for a good two hours filming today. Although when we film another day I would like a good whole day to film so we can get as much done as possible. Filming went very well and we are going to film with Jake for the boyfriend clips hopefully sometime next week.

A2 Music Video: Costume

When looking at the costume we didn't want to refer to Michelle Branch's style because it is too depressing and black. We wanted our artist (me) to have a rocker/indie look but not look gothic because a lot of people get these confused with each other. We were looking through our wardrobe and came across these and made some conclusions about them.

Skinny Blue Jeans:

We saw this pair of skinny blue jeans and thought they would go with therocker/indie look. Making ME look like a real fashion icon and a real artist. When you see a lot of artists in this genre they are often wearing skinny jeans because they express a punk look that is not too dressed up and casual.

Denim Waist Coat:


Focusing on the denim waistcoat, we wanted ME to look quite casual yet stylish as well because all of the female artists are looking very stylish these day in they're music videos. This isn't too out there, we havent dressed our artist up ina big pink dress or blace lace clothes. We have made our artist look very stylish and classy.





Muli-coloured jumper:


When we was looking through our wardrobe we came accross this jumper. We thought with the waist coat it would look very classy and quite indie witha pair of jeans. Although in the music video is in fact quite sad, we wanted to make her outfit quite happy like this colourful jumper. This is because we want her to look like she loves seeing the boy she misses and is happy this way.



Coat:


Along with the jeans, waistcoat and jumper we thought that the outfit needed a coat. One because it will be freezing outside and Two because the outfit needed something to make it look a bit more punky like the genre of song we have chosen.







Boots:

At first; we couldn't decide on shoes. Then we saw these boots. They are muddy, filthy and just wrecked. We thought this would be a nice touch because it looks like the artist has been looking everywhere in the mud for the boy she sings about in the song. She sees him everywhere in her dreams because he is really dead in real life and she loves seeing him even though he is only in her dreams, although she does look for him outside of her dreams.

A2 Music Video: Michelle Branch's Style

The original artist that sings the song that we are creating our own music video for is; Michelle Branch. I would describe this song as quite Indie/Pop and maybe soft rock. This will be incorporated in Michelle's individual style. As you can tell from her style, Michelle is quite punky. Although we are not incorporating her colour of style which is mostly black, we are incorporating her make up like Kelly Clarkson. We are also incorporating how she acts and mimes in her music video, her emotion and her overall person.

A2 Music Video: 'Everywhere' Actors

At the moment we have two definite actors. We have an idea that may involve one more actor but we need to discuss that in more detail.

The first actress that will be in our music video will be myself. We chose myself to be in our music video because it is convenient for us. This is because if we have someone from the group singing, we can trust each other to take the music video seriously and take time to prepare and film the video.

The other actor is Jake who will be playing the part of my boyfriend. We chose Jake for our video because for our original idea he was the only one who took it seriously. Jake is also taking Drama at A level and has helped us in the past for our practise music video and he was very good and very helpful.

A2 Music Video: Example Artists That We Want to Model Our Singer After

When looking at the style and the all round persona of the artist, we have chosen to look at the style of these four artists particularly. The artist on the left is Demi Lovato. Even though in this picture she looks quite peaceful, Demi is quite a punk pop chick. In this picure I thought she looked quite indie, this is the style that I want our artist to portray along with POP as well.

This artist is Selena Gomez.

We think she has a punk rock edge that we want to incorporate into our artists style. As you can see she is also quite girly as well, we also want to incorporate this into our artist too.

The artist above is Sara Barielles, Sara was part of our list of song choices. Her style of song is like the song we have chosen. Her style is like Demi's; it's Indie. This is why we want to try and incorporate her style.

This artist is Kelly Clarkson, Kelly's style of music is very punk/pop. Her style is a reflection of her music; it is very punky. Her make up is quite dark like in the picture so we want to try and make our artist's make up like this. We also want to try and use Kelly's hairstyle making it quite messy, showing a punky look.

So overall we are looking for quite a casual Indie/Rock style for clothes but a punky look for the make-up and hair. This is because it is a reflection of the indie/pop song we are doing the music video for.
